Vasectomy

Home / Vasectomy
The aim of a vasectomy is to provide permanent, safe contraception. It is an operation to cut the tubes (vas deferens) that carry sperm from the epididymis, where they are stored after being produced in the testicle, to the prostate gland where they mix with fluid which results in semen, the fluid ejaculated from the penis.

After a vasectomy, mature sperm are still produced but they are blocked from being ejaculated. The amount and appearance of ejaculated fluid is not noticeably altered. Vasectomy does not alter the production and release of the male hormone, testosterone, and it does not alter masculine characteristics.
